The United Institutions world headquarters will be located in New York City and will provide a permanent global forum for international cooperation and development for organizations from the public, civil and private sectors, at the global level.
New York City is a leading international center for diplomacy and international cooperation and home to the United Nations, United Nations specialized agencies, permanent missions to the UN, international development agencies, international non-governmental organizations, think tanks, philanthropic foundations and international charities.
Several locations in New York are being considered for the United Institutions including the new World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, being rebuilt after the terrorist attacks on September 11 2001, as well as locations next to the United Nations Headquarters.
The UI has been developed in consultation with the NY State Governor's Office, the New York City Mayor's Office and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, owner of the World Trade Center in New York.
